Singapore-based bitcoin miner Bitdeer (Nasdaq: BTDR) reported a fire at its under-construction Bitcoin mining and AI cloud facility in Massillon, Ohio on the afternoon of Nov. 11.
The miner company said firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze and confirmed that no injuries occurred. Two of the 26 buildings being built at the site sustained fire damage. No mining equipment had been installed, and Bitdeer said the incident will not affect its current operational hashrate.
In a post on X, Bitdeer Chairman Jihan Wu said the fire started during welding operations and spread rapidly due to strong winds. He said the company’s senior management team was on site to investigate and assess the extent of the damage.

Wu added that the transformers at the facility would be inspected to determine whether they were affected and that the damaged buildings would be replaced.
The miner company did not disclose an estimate for repair costs or a timeline for rebuilding.
The Massillon facility is one of Bitdeer’s major U.S. expansion projects with a planned capacity of 221 MW. The miner company reported that 21 MW is expected to be energized in November, and full energization of the site is targeted for the end of Q1 2026.
The fire incident followed Tether’s 20% sale of its BTDR holding when the stock dropped 14% on Nov 11.
