Stablecoin company Tether has developed Mining OS, an open source bitcoin mining management software.
Tether’s Mining OS, or MOS, functions as a modular framework capable of managing energy, hardware, and data streams simultaneously. Tether emphasized in its X announcement that it hopes to reduce reliance on closed-source, proprietary solutions that create vendor lock-in.
Operators can utilize the software to monitor real-time hashrate, temperature, and power consumption. The interface also supports the management of mining pools and physical infrastructure such as cooling systems and power distribution units, according to Miner OS documentation.
Tether claimed the existing software landscape as outdated compared to other industrial technology sectors.
Tether developed the platform to serve varied use cases including home miners, developers, and large-scale service providers. The architecture supports the creation of custom analytic dashboards and integration tools. MOS intends to lower barriers to entry for new participants by providing a standardized, reliable foundation.
The launch marks another step in Tether’s diversification beyond its primary stablecoin business as it expands its bitcoin mining business.
