What is Fractal Bitcoin? An Overview and Analysis

Fractal Bitcoin is a merge-mined blockchain that utilizes a novel hybrid consensus mechanism called Cadence  Mining, targets 30 second blocktime, and includes a native token (FB). Cadence mining allows miners to produce blocks by mining Fractal exclusively and merge mining Fractal with Bitcoin on a 2-to-1 basis.

Fractal Bitcoin launched in September 2024 with ~40% of global hashrate merge mining the chain. As of April 2025, ~93% of Bitcoin’s hashrate (812EH/s) was merge mining Fractal. The chain caters to Ordinals‑style assets and retail trading. While on-chain transactions are some of the highest in all of crypto, economic activity is relatively low.
