The Trump Administration has issued an executive order to establish a national program to accelerate artificial intelligence research and development across the U.S., according to a White House press release.
Dubbed the Genesis Mission, the White House called the program a historic undertaking to build an integrated AI platform that will use federal scientific datasets, national laboratory computing systems, and private-sector partnerships to accelerate research.
The Genesis Mission’s priorities include advancements in manufacturing, biotechnology, critical materials, nuclear energy, quantum information science, semiconductors, and microelectronics.
The initiative will involve partnerships with U.S. universities and industry groups. Collaborators include AWS, Nvidia, Microsoft, Google, Anthropic, OpenAI, and other technology companies.
Separately, on Nov. 24, the Department of Energy released a statement outlining plans for modernized fusion reactors, advanced nuclear power designs, and more resilient power grids.
The nuclear reactor designs prioritize modular systems intended to provide reliable, around-the-clock power, while the agency is also pushing research teams to design, test, and stabilize fusion reactors to deliver abundant, affordable energy.
On Nov. 20, The Washington Post reported that the White House was drafting a separate executive order that would direct the Justice Department to sue states that enact AI regulations.
Bitcoin mining companies that shifted into AI infrastructure have rallied this year, with IREN (NASDAQ: IREN) up 394%, Cipher (NASDAQ: CIFR) up 260%, and TeraWulf (NASDAQ: WULF) up 123% year-to-date at the time of publication.
