John Light unveils Bitcoin SoftForks.org, a comprehensive database comparing Bitcoin software proposals. Created following Bitcoin Research Week at Chain Code Labs, this open-source tool allows users to filter and compare different proposals by their BIPs, use cases, components (primarily opcodes), and throughput improvements. Light demonstrates how the database facilitates consensus building by making it easy to understand what each proposal enables, their scaling benefits, and potential tradeoffs. The presentation concludes with a brief Q&A addressing throughput measurements, visualization possibilities, and future improvements.
This presentation was recorded live at 2025’s OPNEXT, the Bitcoin scaling conference. For more info, visit opnext.dev. OPNEXT livestream and VODs are made possible by Taproot Wizards.
