Dev Tooling Post-Covenants With Rijndael

What developer tools can we expect in a world with CAT and covenants more broadly? Rijndael of the Taproot Wizards presents at OP_NEXT.

  • OP_CAT can simulate CTV
  • And it can create vaults! If someone steals your keys, you can trigger a transaction to an address you control under a specified time-limit
  • Rijndael says that you need to separate incidental and domain complexity: “There are problems you have to solve because of the tools/tech vs problems you have to solve for your application.”
  • “We want to figure out if there’s a way to pull out the incidental complexity” to simplify for the problems we are actually solving
  • Toward this end, @TaprootWizards is building Catana for better, simpler tooling that does away with incidental complexity
  • Catana is trying to solve for : incidental complexity, shuffling stack elements, buidling the witness, managing large numbers of tapleafs, among others
  • Other interesting tools for covenants: Sapio (CTV programming language),
